My name is Dimitris Antonopoulos and I work as a medical Doctor, specialized in Interventional radiology. I show and breed dogs, and I also judge dogs all around the world, as an International approved FCI judge more than 20 years now and have been active in dog world more than 35 years. I am approved to judge the FCI groups: IV,V, VI, VIII, IX and X, finals and BIS.
I was involved in breeding several types of animals from a very young age. Breeding Australian and European finches as well special breeds of colour canary birds from a very young age.
I was always fascinated by dogs and dog shows. In 1989 I finally got seriously involved in the wonderful world of show dogs. Since then, I have had different breeds of dogs, either as owner/ handler or was involved in their breeding. For many years I have had Afghan Hounds, which did very well in shows around Europe, and especially in Scandinavia. My dogs were from the well known Boxadan kennel in Denmark.
I was impressed by the wonderful breed of Weimaraners and I imported the first Australian Bred female in Europe from the well known Greydove kennels in Australia back in 2002.
Living in Greece in 2003 I wanted a smaller breed to be able to travel more easily around Europe. I got involved with the amazing breed of Miniature Dachshunds. Since then and until today, Dachshunds has been my passion. Owning and breeding some of the Top Dogs in Europe. Due to my work and judging appointments we had had limited showing, making even more proud of the World Winner and European Winner Titles as well as the numerous BIG and BIS wins. As icing on the cake was the privilege to achieve the honorable place of been TOP DOG ALL BREEDS No4 in Sweden in 2010.
Nowadays I live, work and breed in Sweden, a wonderful country with great canine history, and I still show dogs around Europe, as a life passion that never stops. Always under the Prefix “Ygeia” breeding selectively miniature and Kaninhen smooth and long dachshunds. Dogs of ygeia breeding have done extremly well in shows in several countries including Europe, Japan and Australia.
I am looking forward to my new litters, puppies and rising stars, which we can all enjoy either in the show rings or just as members of a lovely family…!
The last years I finally made a long waited dream come true, to own and breed horses. A number of amazing pedigree jumping horses has become part of my life.
In the summer of 2012 an amazing amazing foal was born, that later was invited to participate at the only Elite horse action in Sweden.
Besides Dogs and Horses in 2015 started breeding sevral new finches as well Australian Neophema Parakeets in several rare mutations importing some new colour mutations for the first time in Scandinavia.
The future looks very promising in every way, and hope to be able to continue my passion for many years.
